On the night of October 22, Russia launched another massive missile and drone attack on Ukrainian territory, the Ukrainian military reported. As a result of the attacks, casualties and injuries were recorded in Kyiv, Odessa, Zaporizhzhia, and a number of other cities.
Two people were killed in the attack in Kyiv. One of them became a victim of a fire in a multi-story building in the Dniprovsk district. Another 19 people were injured to varying degrees, five of whom were children. Nine victims have been hospitalized, according to city mayor Vitaliy Klitschko. Buildings were also damaged in the Pechersk, Desnyansk, Darnytskyi, and Solomensk districts.
Four people were reported dead in the Brovari district of the Kyiv region. Among the deceased were a 38-year-old woman, her 12-year-old daughter, and a six-month-old baby. At the same time, the death of a 38-year-old man was confirmed.
At least 13 people were injured in the attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to regional head Ivan Fedorov, two children are among the injured. As a result of the attack, 15 apartment buildings and several private buildings were damaged.
The drone attack in Izmail, Odessa region, damaged port and energy infrastructure. Although several fires have occurred, according to official data, there are no casualties.
After the attacks, serious power outages were observed in Ukraine. DTEK has implemented emergency shutdowns in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. According to the Ministry of Energy, Russian missile and drone strikes caused emergency outages in many regions of the country. According to "Ukrenergo," the most severe cases are observed in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
Railway infrastructure has also been damaged: "Ukrzalіznitsya" reported that trains on some routes are running with delays and some routes have been changed.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called these attacks "another proof that Russia still does not feel enough pressure to prolong the war." According to him, it is pointless to talk about Russian diplomacy until the Kremlin feels genuine political and economic isolation.
"This can only be ensured through strong sanctions, a far-sighted policy, and diplomacy coordinated with our partners," Zelenskyy said in his address.
The current situation has meant another difficult night for Ukraine - but, as the country's officials emphasized, the morale of the population is stable, and the defense system continues to counteract mass Russian attacks.
