Government operations in the United States have been halted for three weeks. As a result, more than 60,000 aviation safety workers have not received their salaries. They monitor aircraft flights and ensure safety at airports. They last received partial paychecks in mid-October.
Many workers are now forced to look for side jobs to make a living. Some have started working for delivery services, while others struggle to support their families due to low income.

A Dallas airport employee said he had to take out a loan to cover living expenses. During a similar shutdown in previous years, many workers did not show up for duty, causing long lines at airports.
