Trump launches a new “digital war” against China
The U.S. government is considering new trade measures against China. President Donald Trump’s administration plans to restrict exports to China of products created using U.S.-developed software. The decision comes in response to China’s restrictions on rare earth metal exports.

The new measures could apply to laptops, aviation parts, and other technological products. Earlier this month, Trump announced 100% tariffs on Chinese goods and new controls on the export of “critical software.” Officials have not yet determined when these measures will take effect.

Experts believe the move could further escalate trade tensions between the U.S. and China. The Chinese embassy criticized Washington’s “unilateral pressure” policy and stated that China would protect its interests.

If implemented, the plan would resemble export restrictions imposed on Russia in 2022. Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet soon in South Korea, where this issue is likely to be a key topic of discussion.
