More than 460 Jewish scholars, politicians, and cultural figures from around the world have made an open appeal to the United Nations and the international community to impose sanctions against the Israeli government. The address emphasizes that Israel is violating international law by its actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. "Our sympathy for Palestinians is not a betrayal of Judaism, but rather expresses its humanitarian essence. "We will not rest until the end of oppression and the end of the occupation and apartheid policy," the statement said.
Among the signatures are former Speaker of the Israeli Parliament Abraham Burg, former member of the peace negotiation delegation Daniel Levy, director Jonathan Glazer, actor Wallace Shaun, writer Michael Rosen, writer Naomi Klein, Pulitzer Prize winner Benjamin Moser, and others.
According to researchers, at least 68,000 Palestinians have been killed in the two-year war, including hundreds of children and women. It was noted that Israeli attacks continued even after the ceasefire declared on October 10.
According to UN reports, violence has also intensified on the West Bank - in 2025 alone, 3,200 Palestinians were attacked by residents of Jewish settlements. The Save the Children organization confirmed a sharp increase in child mortality.
Scientists at the University of London assessed Israel's actions in Gaza as a "war that has reached the level of genocide." They emphasized that in the 21st century, no conflict has killed this many percent of the population.
Over the past two years, the Israeli government's actions have been sharply criticized even within the Jewish community. B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights also accused the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of genocide.
According to a Washington Post poll, 61% of US Jews consider Israel's actions in Gaza a war crime, while 39% clearly assessed it as genocide.
The authors call on the international community to impose sanctions on Israel, stop arms deliveries, and restore the peace process. They put forward the idea that "respect for human life should remain the main value of Judaism."
