Japan promises Trump billions in investment
U.S. President Donald Trump is on an official visit to Japan. This visit is part of his five-day tour of Asia, which Trump aims to conclude with an agreement on the trade war with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the first leg of his trip, Trump signed trade and critical minerals agreements with four Southeast Asian nations in Malaysia. U.S. and Chinese officials announced that they had reached a preliminary deal to temporarily halt customs tariffs. The news boosted optimism across Asian markets.

In Tokyo, Trump met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito. He is also scheduled to hold talks with new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who has called strengthening cooperation with the U.S. her government’s top priority. They will discuss expanding projects in trade, energy, and defense.

Japan has pledged $550 billion in investment to Trump. The funds will be directed toward developing the country’s energy, shipbuilding, and infrastructure sectors. Trump welcomed the initiative, calling Japan “America’s most reliable partner.”

On Wednesday, Trump will head to South Korea to meet President Lee Jae Myung, followed by talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Thursday. Observers say the meeting could mark a key step toward easing trade tensions in Asia.
