About 24% of parents believe that their children should work in the field of information technology in the future, Peopletalk writes.
IT professions rank second in popularity among parents. In the sphere of economics and management, there are slightly fewer people willing to see their own children (22%). Among other in-demand professions, parents highlight specialties related to working with people: psychologists, teachers, and HR managers (20%). At the same time, the biggest disappointment comes from working in the media sector: only 7% of respondents want their children to become bloggers, models, or streamers.
The lowest expectations are related to creative professions (actors, artists, musicians) - only 4%, and interest in work related to animals and nature (veterinarians, cynologists, ecologists) is even lower - only 2%.
However, not all parents know exactly what a programmer does. According to the study, only 9% of respondents can describe in detail what is included in the tasks of IT specialists, since they themselves work in this field. 37% admit that they do not have a clear picture, but are confident that IT professions provide stable income and are in demand in the labor market.
