In China, the number of pandas in nurseries has doubled in 10 years

Over the past decade, the number of large captive pandas in China has doubled. This was reported by TASS.

"The population of large captive pandas has reached 808," said Liu Hong, head of the State Forestry and Desert Administration of China, at a conference in Chengdu.

It is noted that 10 years ago there were 422 pandas.

How did the population double?

According to Liu Hong, their population has increased due to improved research on animal breeding.

Within the framework of pand protection, Chinese scientists, in particular, use the "space-air-ground" monitoring system.

In 2026-2030, the Chinese government intends to pay special attention to increasing the biodiversity, sustainability, and resilience of the country's ecosystems.

The Great Panda is an unofficial symbol of China and is protected by the state. The southeastern province of Sichuan remains the main habitat of giant pandas, where more than 70% of the entire Chinese population lives.
