2025 the second hottest year: a serious threat awaits the planet

Europe’s global warming monitoring has identified 2025 as one of the hottest years in human history. According to the report, the planet experienced the second hottest year on record.

According to data from the Copernicus climate service, the global temperature has once again confirmed an increase of 1.5 °C above the pre-industrial period — a level designated in the Paris Agreement as the “dangerous threshold.” Experts note that the average temperature for the period 2023–2025 has, for the first time in history, exceeded this limit.

According to Copernicus representatives, these indicators are not just numbers — they are clear evidence of how rapidly climate change is accelerating. A sharp reduction of greenhouse gases and emissions is emphasized as the only effective way to counter this.

At the same time, November became one of the hottest months in history, with the average temperature recorded 1.54 °C above the industrial era. It was noted that even such “small” changes are destabilizing the climate system, increasing the frequency and intensity of storms, floods, and other natural disasters.

According to the report, most regions of the world experienced higher-than-usual temperatures — especially northern Canada, the Arctic Ocean area, and Antarctica. In contrast, cold anomalies were recorded in northeastern Russia.

Copernicus bases its conclusions on billions of satellite data points and archival observations dating back to the 1940s. Experts believe that the acceleration of global warming is mainly linked to human activity — particularly the excessive burning of fossil fuels.
