Ecuadorian football is once again reeling from a tragic incident. Significant progress has been made in the investigation regarding the murder of Mario Pineyda, a footballer from one of Ecuador's renowned clubs, Barcelona SC. Two suspects involved in the crime have been apprehended by the country's law enforcement agencies.

According to preliminary media reports, two unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle opened fire on Pineyda, his wife, and his mother as they were exiting a store. Unfortunately, both the footballer and his wife died at the scene. His mother sustained critical injuries and was immediately hospitalized. The tragic incident occurred in one of the country’s major cities, Guayaquil.
The Ecuadorian Prosecutor's Office officially confirmed the arrest of the two suspects. A local judge noted that sufficient evidence has been gathered against them. At the same time, the investigation revealed that the suspects have been attempting to evade justice. It was reported that one of the individuals was identified using video surveillance footage that analyzed motorcycle movements.
