In Africa, a man was mauled by a crocodile in a river

In Zambia, a man fleeing from elephants faced a tragic incident. According to “Daily Mail”, this happened when a citizen named Dean Nirenda was fishing with two friends.
According to the police, they suddenly came face to face with angry elephants. All three started to run, and Nirenda, in order to hide, dived into a channel by the riverbank. According to local police representative Robertson Mweemba, at that very moment a crocodile attacked him and bit off his right thigh. Despite that, the man struck the crocodile with a stick, managed to get away from it, and got out of the water.
His companions, who were watching what was happening from the shore, rushed over and took the injured man to a safe place. They tried to stop the bleeding, but there was no way to save Nirenda’s life. Officials emphasize that as the number of elephants in Zambia increases, clashes between people and wild animals are becoming more frequent. According to specialists, the Luangwa River, which flows through South Luangwa National Park, is considered one of the areas in Africa where Nile crocodiles are found in the greatest numbers.
For this reason, the Zambian government and nature protection services have been continually urging local residents and tourists to act with special caution in areas where wild animal activity is high.
