Israel launched airstrikes on central Beirut

Israel has intensified its military campaign against Lebanon, launching a series of airstrikes directly into the heart of Beirut. The attacks targeted the Bashoura neighborhood and the southern suburbs, sending thick plumes of smoke over the capital. This shift marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, which has already resulted in the deaths of nearly 700 people and left over 1,500 injured, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. Reports Aljazeera.com.
The humanitarian situation is rapidly deteriorating as the number of forcibly displaced individuals surpasses 800,000. Many civilians, having fled their homes in southern Lebanon and the Dahiyeh district, are now struggling to find safety in overcrowded government shelters or makeshift tents. Recent strikes, including a double-tap attack in the Ramlet al-Baida area, have further devastated displaced families, while a drone strike on a university building near Beirut resulted in the deaths of two academics.
The violence, which traces back to March 2, continues to escalate as Israel maintains its aerial and ground offensive against Hezbollah. Despite international calls for de-escalation, the fighting shows no signs of abating. With 90 percent of government shelters currently at capacity, thousands of Lebanese citizens remain without homes, income, or a clear path to safety as the regional instability persists.
