Iran destroys US radar in Saudi Arabia with drones

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that it destroyed the AN/FPS-117 radar system near Al-Qaysum airport in Saudi Arabia using attack drones. This radar, valued at approximately $20 million, could detect aerial objects at a distance of 460 kilometers. This action by Iran had a serious impact on the security and surveillance capabilities of the US and its allies in the Middle East.
According to reports, since February 28, Iranian forces have also destroyed AN/FPS-132 radar systems in Qatar, AN/TPY-2 in Jordan, and the UAE. The total damage is currently estimated at $2.7 billion. These actions complicated air control for the US and its allies, limited air defense systems, and forced a review of strategic plans.
After the destruction of radar systems, the US increased the number of E-3 Sentry (AWACS) aircraft to ensure security in the Middle East. These special air reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft are equipped with the largest radars and are of great importance in detecting drone and missile attacks. The US has also begun relocating air defense systems from South Korea and other regions to the Middle East.
These strategic actions of Iran further complicated the geopolitical situation in the region. The US and its allies were forced to take urgent measures to ensure security in the Middle East, which opened a new stage in military-political disagreements and reserves in the region.
