US President Donald Trump expressed his views on the political situation in Iran in one of his recent interviews. He noted that during the beginning of the last war and as a result of subsequent military strikes, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials were killed, and therefore a "new regime" has already been formed in the country.
According to Trump, "now we are dealing with a completely different group of people, they are professional and qualified." He also speculated about Ali Khamenei's son, Mojtaba Khamenei, and said that he was either dead or seriously injured. "The son is either dead or in very serious condition, we have not heard anything about him. He has disappeared," Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times.
The president later repeated these thoughts to reporters during his flight to Washington. He noted that the first regime was destroyed and destroyed, and most of the subsequent leaders were also killed. Now they are cooperating with people they had never had contact with before. Therefore, Trump concluded that “the regime has changed and this group consists of very smart and qualified people.”
There have also been reports of talks between Iranian officials and the United States in recent weeks. According to journalists, the talks with the United States are being conducted through the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqir Ghalibaf, but the Iranian side has denied these reports.
At the same time, on March 30, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Misr announced that, after consultations with his colleagues from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, talks between the United States and Iran could take place in Islamabad “in the coming days.”
