Attack on Kunar University escalates tensions further

The security situation in Afghanistan is becoming increasingly tense. The country's government is accusing Pakistan of mass shelling of a university located in Kunar province. According to information released by international media, at least 7 people were killed and more than 70 others sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of the attack.
The tragedy occurred on April 26 on the territory of Kunar University. Witnesses and local officials stated that the strikes were carried out using mortars and rocket launchers. Some sources do not rule out an aerial attack — the use of drones and aviation.
Most tragically, students and teachers are among the victims. One of the university professors reported that the explosions were very powerful and occurred directly within the campus area. This indicates that the educational institution was under full threat.
In response to the accusations, the Pakistani side firmly denied all claims. Official statements emphasize that these allegations are "baseless and fabricated."
This event takes place against the backdrop of previous conflicts. In particular, a strike on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul several weeks ago caused significant losses. According to UN data, 269 people were killed in that incident.
The situation in the border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan remains tense. Tensions in the relations between the two countries have deepened further since the Taliban came to power in 2021.
In short, this event is not a simple incident — the situation in the region is entering an even more dangerous scenario.
