New regulations have been introduced in Uzbekistan to ensure transport safety and strengthen compliance with passenger and freight transportation rules.
It has been reported that from September 4, fines for drivers who violate labor discipline and fail to comply with safety regulations in the passenger and freight transportation sector have been increased in the country. These measures are strictly stipulated in the new law adopted by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
The law states:
Drivers who do not adhere to the established rest regime in international and intercity passenger and freight transportation will be fined 7 BRV, which is 2,884,000 soums.
Additionally, it is planned to impose a fine of up to 10 BRV, which is 4,120,000 soums, on responsible persons and employees who violate safety rules in the railway and metro systems.
The new regulations aim to further strengthen safety measures during passenger and freight transportation. Digital statistics show that in 2024, more than 130 serious violations were identified in railway transport and the metro, resulting in material damage exceeding 4 billion soums. Furthermore, 11 citizens lost their lives in 38 incidents at unregulated railway crossings.
Simultaneously, the powers of the Transport Supervision Inspectorate have been expanded. Now this body has the authority not only to issue orders but also to directly impose fines and ensure that violations do not go unpunished.
These measures are an integral part of the transport safety concept put forward by the President. The concept also includes strict measures such as temporary suspension of driver's licenses, prevention of repeated violations, and the abolition of preferential fines.
These new rules encourage citizens to be responsible and observe regulations in the field of passenger and freight transportation, thereby contributing to the safety and orderliness of traffic.
