Auto market warmed up in 2025: electric cars pulled up growth

According to the analysis of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, sales of domestically produced and imported new passenger cars in Uzbekistan showed stable growth during 2025. By the end of the year, the market expanded by 5.2%, and about 370 thousand new cars found buyers. Experts attribute this growth to several factors, but the main "driver" is the activity in the electric vehicle segment.

Regions with the highest growth rates in the primary market by region were also identified. New car purchase indicator in 2025:

  • in Syrdarya region - by 45 percent,
  • Tashkent region - by 36 percent,
  • in Namangan region - by 26 percent,
  • In Kashkadarya region - by 21%.

These figures show that demand has increased very rapidly in some regions. However, the situation is not the same everywhere: a decrease in sales of new passenger cars was observed throughout the year in Tashkent, as well as in Navoi and Khorezm regions. That is, although the market grew overall, the movement in the regions was different.

The Center's analysis also provides specific figures by segment. In particular, in 2025, sales of new domestically produced cars exceeded 315 thousand units. The sale of imported cars was recorded in the amount of about 53.3 thousand units. This means that domestic production still retains its main share in the market, but the import segment has also retained its position.

And the most interesting point is electric cars. According to the analysis, sales of new electric vehicles will increase by 35% in 2025, reaching 40.7 thousand units. Experts note that it was this segment that gave a significant impetus to the overall market growth. That is, it would not be an exaggeration to say that part of the market's "energy" came precisely through electric cars.

Territorial concentration in the sale of electric vehicles is also very high. The main share fell on the city of Tashkent: 29,000 electric vehicles were sold in the capital, which is 71% of the total volume. The following places are occupied by Samarkand region, Tashkent region and Kashkadarya region.

In conclusion, a general positive dynamic was observed in the new passenger car market in 2025. In some regions, trade increased rapidly, while in others, a decline was recorded. However, the sharp growth of the electric vehicle segment gave the market a new impetus and clearly demonstrated the changing directions of demand. Now one question remains at the center of attention: will this "electric wave" intensify in 2026 or will the market turn into a different trend?
