New leaders in the Russian electric vehicle market: Umo and Evolute take the lead

Unexpected changes have occurred in the Russian electric vehicle market. The Zeekr brand, which was the market leader until recently, has ceded its position to other manufacturers. According to the results of April 2026, Evolute and Umo became the best-selling electric vehicles. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
The Evolute brand sold 409 vehicles, capturing 45 percent of the market. The second place was taken by the Umo brand with 184 vehicles. Umo is actually a sub-brand of Yandex; these cars are assembled at a Moscow auto plant and are primarily intended for taxi fleets.
In total, 906 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia during the month, which is 14 percent more than last year. The most popular model remains the Evolute i-JOY, followed by the Umo 5, Avatr 12, Avatr 11, and Geely EX5 models.
The top five in the market also included Chinese brands Avatr, Geely, and BYD. During the first four months of 2026, the Russian electric vehicle market grew by 20 percent, reaching a total of 3,200 vehicles sold.
