The United States of America and 20 other countries have confirmed their participation in Intervision, a music competition considered the Russian analogue of Eurovision. This was reported by Pravilamag.
Currently, the list of participants includes Russia, the USA, China, Belarus, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Vietnam, India, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kenya, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
According to Alexander Alimov, a representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not all invited countries agreed to participate, but the contest has not rejected any state “for political reasons.”
The diplomat emphasized that during preparations for the competition “a number of pleasant surprises may await.”
For reference, Intervision was first held in the 1970s–1980s in socialist bloc countries. In 2008, Channel One and the Red Square media group revived the contest. In 2025, the competition will take place in Moscow and the Moscow region. According to a decree by President Vladimir Putin, 750 million rubles have been allocated from the state budget for the project.
