Uzbekistan became the world's largest gold seller in April!
According to the results of April 2025, Uzbekistan is leading the global gold market as the most active seller. This was announced by the World Gold Council (WGC) in its latest report.

According to the report, in April this year, net gold purchases by central banks around the world amounted to 12 tons. This figure is approximately 12 percent less than purchases in March.

The world leader in purchases is the National Bank of Poland, which increased its gold reserves by 12 tons, bringing their total to 509 tons. At the same time, the Czech National Bank also managed to increase its reserves by 3 tons, the People's Bank of China by 2 tons, the Central Bank of Turkey by 2 tons, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan by 2 tons, and the National Bank of Kazakhstan and the Central Bank of Jordan by 1 ton each.

However, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, on the contrary, reduced its gold reserves by another 11 tons during April. Since the beginning of the year, the country's gold reserves have decreased by 26 tons in total and now stand at 356 tons.

Experts note that Uzbekistan's active participation in the world market as a seller and reducing its gold reserves has allowed the country to increase its international currency reserves to a record level. As of May 1, 2025, Uzbekistan's official reserve assets reached $49.25 billion for the first time. This figure is the highest record in the history of Uzbekistan.

The increase in Uzbekistan's reserve assets was mainly due to the significant increase in the price of gold on international markets in recent months, which has repeatedly broken its historical records. It is noted that the high appreciation of gold on the world market has brought significant economic benefits to Uzbekistan.

According to experts, Uzbekistan's gold sales policy is a strategic step aimed at supporting the national economy and diversifying reserves. This will allow the country to respond quickly and effectively to changes in the international financial market.
