According to survey results, "Monopoly" and its various versions are the most popular among Russians (24%). Economic strategy, competition for property and resources — it’s an interesting and engaging process for people of all ages.
In second place is "Imaginarium" — a game based on imagination, creativity, and emotions (22%). Such games help develop thinking and broaden understanding.
Classic chess ranks third with 19% of the votes. Even today, this intellectual game remains highly relevant.
What other games are popular?
1. Lotto (16%) — a traditional game that brings together the older generation and children.
2. Carcassonne (11%) — a game that combines strategy and construction.
3. Uno (5%) — a fast-paced card game suitable for any group.
4. "Exploding Kittens" (3%) — a modern game with humor and surprises.
Where do people prefer to play?
Most respondents prefer to play at home or at friends’ places (83%). Only 11% choose to visit anti-cafes, and 7% enjoy playing outdoors.
Positive effects of board games
Many believe that board games are not just entertainment, but also a form of development:
- 42% say they bring friends and family closer;
33% believe they improve strategic thinking;
16% say board games are useful for teamwork and teambuilding.
Chess deserves special attention. One in three respondents wants to learn or refresh their memory of the rules. Among Russians:
- 42% regularly play chess;
17% are currently learning;
Only 7% are not interested in chess at all.
