Scientists have achieved another interesting result related to human health. Studies conducted by an international group of researchers have shown that watching too much television can have a serious impact on mental state.
According to the data, the data of more than 65 thousand adult participants were analyzed. As a result, it was found that spending too much time in front of the screen can increase the likelihood of developing depression.
The results of this study were published in the journal European Psychiatry. Experts say that by replacing part of the time spent in front of the television with physical activity or proper sleep, a person can protect themselves.
In particular, the negative impact of prolonged screen time is more noticeable in middle-aged people. They can improve their mental state through physical exercise or complete rest.
In elderly people, such a positive effect was mainly associated with sports training. That is, physical activity reduces the likelihood of elderly people falling into depression. In young participants, no serious negative effects of excessive television viewing were found.
