Sunscreen scandal in Australia

Sunscreen scandal in Australia
A major scandal has erupted in Australia over sunscreens. Tests showed that some products of popular brands did not provide the protection stated on the packaging. This caused concern among the public, as skin cancer is very widespread in the country.

Out of 20 creams, 16 did not meet the declared level. For example, Ultra Violette’s sunscreen, instead of SPF 50+, provided only SPF 4 protection.

The Australian government launched an investigation. Ultra Violette withdrew its product from the market and apologized to consumers. Other companies were also forced to temporarily suspend some of their products.

Experts say that control must be strengthened. Doctors are urging people not only to use sunscreen, but also to wear protective clothing against the sun.
