When it comes to dental care, most people act only with good intentions: "If I clean more, my teeth will be healthy." However, dental therapist Victoria Cherednichenko warns that excessive tooth brushing can also cause serious harm to oral health. Today, dentists no longer recommend brushing teeth after every meal - there are many reasons for this.
According to the expert, there are two limits to dental hygiene: complete neglect and, conversely, excessive cleaning. The first condition causes a number of problems in teeth, while the second condition can cause enamel destruction and gum damage. That is, both situations are equally dangerous.
The best way is to brush your teeth twice a day: in the morning and in the evening. It is beneficial to carry out morning care after breakfast, as the enamel becomes soft in an acidic environment after meals. Evening cleaning prevents the proliferation of nocturnal bacteria in the oral cavity.
Dentists recommend using a soft or medium-hardness brush. A paste with a low abrasive index helps to preserve enamel. The cleaning process should last 2-3 minutes, without excessive pressure on the teeth and gums. The brush itself is not eternal - it needs to be renewed at least once every three months.
Also, dental hygiene is not just about brushes and paste. Special threads, mouthwashes, and most importantly - dental appointments are also very important. Periodic visits to a specialist allow for the early detection of caries, gum inflammation, and other diseases.
The conclusion is simple: excessive affection is also harmful. If you want your teeth to be beautiful and healthy, take care of them moderately and do not refuse the advice of a specialist.
