Deadly cough syrup tragedy in India
In India’s Madhya Pradesh state, several children died after drinking cough syrup. Officials reported that at least 11 children died from kidney failure. Tests revealed that the medicine contained a toxic substance — diethylene glycol.

This is not the first such incident in India. In recent years, similar syrups have also caused child deaths in Gambia.

Authorities have promised to strengthen control, but low-quality medicines are still being sold on the market. In rural areas, medicines are often bought without a prescription.

Experts are calling on the government to take strict action. Otherwise, such tragedies may happen again.
