Which people are more susceptible to colds?

According to a recent scientific study, those who sleep only 6 hours a day are 4.2 times more likely to contract acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). The research results were published in the journal "Brain, Behavior and Immunity."

The experiment was conducted by scientists from the University of California. 164 volunteers were regularly monitored for two months. Participants' lifestyle, stress levels, tobacco and alcohol consumption, sleep quality, and duration were recorded.

As a result of the analysis, it was found that the duration of sleep is the main factor in the risk of catching a cold. Those who slept 5-6 hours a day were significantly more affected than those who slept more than 7 hours. When sleep was less than five hours, this risk increased 4.5 times.

According to the study, age, social conditions, or bad habits did not significantly affect this indicator. The most important factor turned out to be adequate and quality sleep.
