More than 60 children diagnosed with measles in London's Anfield

More than 60 children were diagnosed with measles in the Enfield area. The Guardian reported this on February 14th.
It was reported that cases of the disease were detected in seven schools and kindergartens in the region. Some children were hospitalized. Experts emphasize that the low vaccination coverage in the region is the main reason for the rapid spread of the disease.
The UK Health Security Agency estimates that between 40,000 and 160,000 people in London could be infected with measles if the situation is not taken under control in a timely manner.
Anfield's public health director, Dudu Cher-Arami, stated that measles is now becoming a serious threat to the capital. According to him, London is among the regions with the lowest measles vaccination rates in the country.
Currently, temporary vaccination centers have been established in the Anfield area. Also, parents are sent official warning letters about the need to vaccinate their children.
Measles is a highly transmissible viral disease transmitted through airborne droplets. It is especially dangerous for young children and in some cases can be fatal. According to experts, measles vaccination is approximately 97% effective. An unvaccinated person can contract the virus in almost 100% of cases if they have contact with an infected person.
