Scientists: Climate change significantly increases the risk of heart attack

Scientific research conducted by scientists has shown that various weather conditions have a significant influence on the probability of developing myocardial infarction. The data of 11,527 patients registered at cardiology centers in Beijing over 10 years were analyzed and compared with daily meteorological indicators.

The results of the study indicate that infarction cases occurred more often on days with low temperatures, sharp temperature fluctuations during the day, and mild winds. At the same time, it was found that the amount of moisture and precipitation was also lower on such days.

Scientists, using machine learning models, identified the main weather factors influencing the increased risk of heart attack. The most important factor was found to be a sharp change in the daily temperature difference - it was this factor that had the greatest impact on the increase in the number of heart attack cases.

According to the authors, such analysis and models will greatly assist cardiology centers in predicting the flow of patients, effectively distributing medical services, and minimizing the workload. In subsequent studies, scientists planned to further increase the accuracy of the forecast by adding age, gender, and other individual characteristics of patients to the weather data.

The goal is to improve medical services and emergency preparedness, as well as to ensure an effective approach to public health protection.
