Illegal tobacco sales have been prevented in Fergana region, according to the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office for combating economic crimes.
According to reports, during a joint operation conducted by the Margilan city department of the agency and local police, a previously convicted individual, I.I., was found storing 4,579 boxes of foreign-made, excise-free tobacco in a non-residential facility located in the “Navro‘z” neighborhood.
The products were seized as material evidence. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 186-1 of the Criminal Code (illegal production and distribution of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and tobacco products). Investigations are currently underway.
Authorities have stated that control over such violations is being further tightened.
