Uzbekistani accused of 830 kg drug crime acquitted in Turkey

On October 16, a regular court hearing on the case of a 22-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, originally from the Samarkand region, was held at the 17th court building for serious crimes in the Bakirkuy district of Istanbul.

Diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul also participated in the trial. Serious charges against our citizen regarding the illegal import and trafficking of narcotics into Turkey were considered.

According to the investigation, a total of 6 individuals and several wanted suspects were accused of transporting 30 kg of cocaine and 800 kg of psychotropic substances from European countries to Turkey by truck. Our compatriot was detained only because he worked in a workshop near the area where the truck was located and was there during the operation.

After a thorough examination of the case, the judge, taking into account that the person's involvement in the crime was not established, issued a decision to release him. The detention measure was canceled, and our citizen was recognized as an accomplice.
