In the first nine months of 2025, the Tashkent city courts considered 6.7 thousand applications for divorce, reports UPL.uz. This figure is 468 more than in the same period of 2024. Nevertheless, 3 thousand of these claims were satisfied, while in 3.7 thousand cases the spouses reconciled and the family was preserved.
Divorce cases made up 26.8 percent of the total civil cases in Tashkent. According to judge Jasur Sirojev, as a result of the courts granting reconciliation periods and other measures, many families have been saved from breaking up.
This trend is observed throughout the country as well. According to the Supreme Court, in January–September 2025, the courts received more than 52 thousand divorce cases. Of these, 27,578 ended with a formal divorce, while 18,430 were denied. According to the Statistics Committee, in the same period 35.4 thousand families divorced, which is 4.1 percent more compared to last year.
Systematic measures are being taken by the government to reduce the number of divorces. Courts are actively applying the practice of granting time for spouses to reconcile. If a claim is denied, the case materials are sent to family support units.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is paying special attention to this issue. He has emphasized the need to promote marriage contracts in society and increase legal awareness among the population. According to the head of state, this measure will prevent serious consequences for families and especially children.
