
A painful incident occurred among fans who came from Namangan to watch the Navbahor vs. Nasaf match, part of the 27th round of the Super League. A car driving them back was involved in a traffic accident, the Road Safety Department of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the information, the incident occurred on October 31 at 08:30 near the Karatepa mahalla of the Urgut district, at the 1113th call of the M-39 highway. The driver of the Kia Sonet, while traveling on the Samarkand-Karshi route, fell asleep due to fatigue and lost control of the steering wheel. As a result, the vehicle collided with a pile of dirt on the side of the road and overturned.
As a result of the incident, 53-year-old active member of the "Nasaf" fan club, Mahmud Muhammadiyev, died in the hospital from his injuries. The driver and another passenger were taken to the Urgut District Central Hospital. Currently, the Investigative Department of the Urgut District Department of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case, and all circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
Law enforcement agencies appealed to drivers and reminded them not to get behind the wheel when tired or sleepless, to take a break before driving long distances, and to leave the road healthy. It was emphasized that any negligence on the road could harm life.

Nasaf Football Club, the Uzbekistan Football Association, and the Professional Football League expressed their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased fan. Organizations also announced that all remaining matches of the 27th round of the Super League will be dedicated to the memory of Mahmud Muhammadiyev and will begin with a minute of silence.
