During an operational event in the Mubarek district of Kashkadarya region, a citizen was detained for attempting to sell gold coins issued in the Russian Empire in 1897-1901. As a result of an operation conducted jointly by the Kashkadarya regional department of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Security Service, citizen M.K. sold 10 ancient gold coins for 71 million soums and was caught with material evidence at the time.
According to expert conclusions, these coins weighed 42.74 grams and were confirmed to be made from a precious gold alloy. The presence of the inscription "Nicolas II" on the coins will make them historically significant.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 177 of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition or sale of currency valuables), and an investigation is underway.
