Firm organizing illegal Umrah pilgrimage exposed

Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have stopped the activities of the illegal travel agency "Jalolquduq Aviyatrans," which organized unauthorized Umrah trips for 19,500 citizens.
According to the investigation, this group collected a total of 22.8 million dollars (approximately 288 billion soums) from pilgrims. They attempted to evade taxes and mandatory payments totaling 15.3 billion soums ($1.2 million). The damage caused to the state is estimated at 1.8 billion soums (150.4 thousand dollars).
Due to the lack of adequate accommodation in Saudi Arabia, 534 citizens of Uzbekistan found themselves in a difficult situation and were returned to their homeland by special flights.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the company's activities, 13 people have been arrested, and another person has been prosecuted.
