Over 170 pilgrims unable to return to Uzbekistan
Oficials Meet Over 170 Pilgrims Stranded in Mecca
Diplomats from the Consulate General visited the "Kanari" and "Al-Ayam Elite" hotels in Mecca to meet Uzbek citizens who are facing difficulties after their Umrah pilgrimage.
Currently, more than 170 pilgrims are awaiting their return to Uzbekistan at these hotels. The pilgrims stated that they traveled to Saudi Arabia in various groups as part of a 14-day Umrah tour. However, due to misinformation and errors by the individuals who organized the trip, they are currently unable to return home.
During conversations, the pilgrims described their dire situation, emphasizing that a large portion of their group consists of elderly individuals. Among them are people who have suffered heart attacks, suffer from chronic illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and require constant medication. The pilgrims appealed to the government of Uzbekistan for practical assistance.
The Consulate General informed them that their requests for returning to their homeland would be conveyed to the relevant authorities and that it would take some time to process their appeals. Therefore, to prevent the situation from worsening, they were advised to purchase airline tickets at their own expense, if possible, and return to Uzbekistan.
Additionally, it was explained that after returning to Uzbekistan, they can contact the relevant authorities regarding the illegal actions of the individuals who placed the pilgrims in their difficult situation.
The Consulate General is currently keeping this situation under constant observation and is taking appropriate measures to resolve the situation. Read “Zamin” on Telegram! Ctrl
