What happens if you have less than 1.236 million soums on your card?
In brief

Starting April 15, 2024, Uzbekistan has implemented a new regulation preventing banks from automatically withdrawing all funds from a user's card to settle debts. Financial institutions are now required to maintain a minimum balance of 1,236,000 UZS—equivalent to three times the Base Calculating Amount—on the cardholder's account. If the balance falls below this threshold, banks are prohibited from making automatic deductions for loans, installments, or other liabilities. This measure aims to protect citizens' financial security and ensure they are not left entirely without funds.

Starting April 15, 2024, Uzbekistan has imposed a restriction on withdrawing funds from bank cards down to zero. According to the Uzcard payment system, financial institutions must now maintain a certain minimum balance on cards for loans, installment payments, microcredits, and other debt obligations.

According to the new rule, banks must maintain a balance of at least 3 times the basic calculation amount on the card, which is not less than 1 million 236 thousand soums. Therefore, if there is less money on the card than this sum, banks will not have the opportunity to withdraw funds automatically.

This change is being introduced to ensure the financial security of the population and prevent citizens from being left without funds.
