Head of Emergency Situations Department in Tashkent Region detained for $63,000 bribe

An official from the Tashkent Regional Emergency Situations Department has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a $63,000 bribe from a local business owner. The suspect reportedly promised to use his influence to help the entrepreneur secure construction projects valued at over 5 billion soums. He was caught red-handed by the State Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office while receiving a $25,000 installment of the illicit payment. A criminal case has been initiated, and the official is currently being held in custody pending further investigation.

An official linked to the emergency response system was detained with a bribe in Tashkent region.

According to reports, he demanded a large sum of money, saying he would help an entrepreneur with construction work planned in the district.

In particular, the official asked the head of an LLC for $63,000, saying he would resolve projects worth 5.04 billion som through his connections.

It was established that he had received $24,000 of this amount in March-April 2026 and continued to demand the rest.

In an operation conducted jointly by the State Security Service and the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office, the official was detained while receiving another $25,000.

A criminal case has now been opened in connection with the incident, and a pretrial detention measure has been applied to the suspect.
