An alarming incident was uncovered in the Bukhara region: a driver was stopped for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, putting the lives of dozens of children at risk.

According to the Road Safety Service, the incident occurred on April 28, 2026, in the Romitan district. During an inspection, traffic police officers stopped an Isuzu bus and discovered the driver was intoxicated. It was revealed that he was transporting 40 kindergarten children.

It was also noted that the driver failed to comply with the lawful demands of the traffic police officers. An administrative report was filed, and a penalty was imposed in accordance with the law.

According to the ruling, he was deprived of his driving license for 3 years and fined 16,480,000 soums.

It is worth noting that similar incidents have been observed in other regions recently. Specifically, cases of transporting children beyond capacity were identified in the Samarkand and Andijan regions, leading to measures being taken against the drivers.

Experts emphasize that such violations pose a serious threat to child safety and stress the need to strengthen oversight.
