Leaders of Turkic states discuss digital future in Turkistan

On May 15, the ancient city of Turkistan in brotherly Kazakhstan hosted another historic event. The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development” At the informal summit dedicated to the topic, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated and put forward important initiatives aimed at strengthening the technological sovereignty of the Turkic world.

Trust deficit and new economic dynamics

In his speech, the head of our state noted the importance of the unity of Turkic peoples in the current complex geopolitical situation, the crisis of trust in international relations, and the weakening of global institutions. The figures are encouraging: by 2025, the total economic potential of OTS countries exceeded 2.4 trillion dollars. This means it is twice as high as global economic growth rates.

“Our meeting today coincides with a period when various conflicts are escalating in the world. The deficit of trust in international relations is intensifying, and the role and influence of global institutions are gradually weakening. These problems require us to activate mutual dialogues and develop harmonious positions on important issues,”– said the President of Uzbekistan.

Ancestral heritage — the foundation of artificial intelligence

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the topic of artificial intelligence is not alien to Turkic peoples; on the contrary, the roots of this field trace back to our land.

“The founder of the algorithm Al-Khwarizmi, and the geniuses of mathematics and astronomy Al-Biruni and Ulugh Beg created the foundation for the current digital revolution. Today, relying on this invaluable heritage of our ancestors, we are building a new era of digital development for the Turkic world,” said the head of state.

Strategic initiatives and the "Digital Turkic Corridor"

During the summit, the leader of Uzbekistan outlined a number of specific proposals that will take cooperation to a new level:

  • Artificial Intelligence Strategy: Establishing a strategic cooperation network in the field of AI within the organization.

  • Digital Corridor: Developing a concept to simplify data exchange and holding a Technology Forum in Tashkent.

  • Knowledge Platform: Creating a unified “Big Data” platform of historical and cultural sources based on the Center for Islamic Civilization.

  • Cybersecurity Alliance: Establishing a special Turkic alliance to protect digital infrastructure.

Ecology and transport: “Green” and fast solutions

In order to fight against climate change, our President proposed declaring 2027 as the “Year of Nature Conservation” in the Turkic world. It was also noted that it is necessary to use the capabilities of artificial intelligence in managing water resources and detecting drought.

In the field of transport, the full implementation of the “E-Permit” system and the strategic importance of the “China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan” railway were highlighted.

Adopted at the end of the summit, the Turkistan Declaration strengthened the firm commitment of member states to digital and economic integration.

In your opinion, how much can the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies into the economies of Turkic states change our lives in the near future?
