Illegal medicines worth billions of soums seized in Fergana (video)

A case involving the storage and transport of poor-quality medicines lacking proper documentation has been uncovered in the Fergana region. Officers from the Fergana Regional Customs Administration's Anti-Smuggling Department, in cooperation with the State Security Service (DXX), conducted an operational raid.

During the operation, the unloading of medicines from a Gazel vehicle at a residence belonging to a Fergana city resident was intercepted. Subsequently, the vehicle and the premises were inspected in accordance with established procedures.

The inspection revealed that over 29,400 units of medicine across 38 varieties were being stored at the residence. Additionally, it was found that more than 16,500 units of 25 other types of medicine had been transported in the Gazel vehicle.

A total of nearly 46,000 units of medicine were seized for temporary storage during the operation. Their initial value is estimated at 1.247 billion soums. It is noted that these medicines lack quality guarantees, proper documentation, and were stored and transported in gross violation of regulations.

Pre-investigation checks are currently underway regarding this incident. Authorities are working to identify the source of the medicines, the intended recipients, and all individuals involved in the process.

In short, a large quantity of undocumented medicines was intercepted in Fergana before entering circulation. Medicine is not an ordinary commodity—its quality, storage, and documentation are directly vital to human health.
