Sasaki lost 45 days of memory after head injury (video)
The international boxing confrontation held in Tokyo became the scene of yet another dramatic event. The young and promising Japanese boxer Tsutomu Sasaki entered the ring at home against his American opponent Brian Norman for the WBO world champion title. However, this fight turned into one of the toughest trials in his career.

The bout had a sharp character from the start — Norman knocked Sasaki down twice in the very first round. By the fifth round, the American boxer knocked the Japanese athlete down again with another blow. Sasaki, falling with the back of his head against the ropes, lost consciousness and for a long time could not recover.

The boxer was urgently taken to the hospital, where he received emergency medical help. Doctors performed a brain CT scan and reported that no physical injuries or bleeding were found. However, the most dangerous aspect was that he could not remember any events from the past month and a half at all.

According to one of the organizers, Nakai Issei, Sasaki still cannot remember how the fight went, the preparation process, or the agreements. This is considered one of the serious consequences of head injury.

The Japanese boxing community is closely monitoring Sasaki’s condition. Scientists and specialists emphasize that time and regular rehabilitation are necessary for his full recovery.

This incident once again demonstrates how dangerous moments in boxing can be and the urgent importance of preserving athletes’ health.
