
The head coach of Uzbekistan’s U‑17 youth national team, Islambek Ismoilov, has recently officially begun working within the Neftchi club system. He will now work with the club’s youth team, specifically the U‑21 squad.
This news sparked interest in the football community, so we contacted the coach for detailed clarification. According to Ismoilov, his new position will not in any way impede his responsibilities with the U‑17 national team.
– “I came to Neftchi at the personal invitation of the hokim of Fergana region,” says the specialist. “From the second round, I will start working with the U‑21 team. Before accepting this decision, I took into account my responsibilities with the national team. We have an important tournament ahead, such as the World Championship. The club management understands this well and granted me freedom. They supported my work.”
He emphasized that working on two fronts, he intends to gain even greater experience in working with youth and to contribute to development on both fronts.
As is known, Ismoilov’s U‑17 team has recently earned a lot of praise. The team stands out both technically and in terms of mental readiness. Therefore, working concurrently in the club system will not negatively affect his duties with the national team.
