"Neftchi" won an important victory in Jizzakh and got closer to "Nasaf"

The 23rd round of matches in the Uzbekistan championship has concluded, and Fergana's "Neftchi," competing for the championship title, has achieved an important victory, as fans expected. In the match against local "Sogdiana" in Jizzakh, the guests won with a score of 0:1 and recorded one of the main events of the round.

Experienced midfielder Jamshid Iskanderov opened the scoring in the 38th minute. His accurate shot not only secured the victory but also became historic as the Fergana club recorded its 1700th goal in the country's top division.

In the first half, Neftchi took the initiative and broke the opponent's defense with a series of attacks. Sogdiana, however, tried to respond mainly with counterattacks. However, the visitors didn't miss the opportunity to score, and the opening shot decided the fate of the entire match.

In the second half, the Jizzakh club made every effort to equalize the score. Lyupcho Doriyev played actively, but his shots didn't find the net. Coach Ivan Boshkovich tried to strengthen the attack with a series of substitutions, but to no avail.

Neftchi, however, didn't limit themselves to keeping the score; they also had the opportunity to score a second goal several times. However, the situations created by Farrukh Sayfiyev and Joel Kojo remained unresolved.

Following this victory, Neftchi reached 48 points and maintained their second-place finish in the league table. They narrowed the gap with the leader "Nasaf" to four points. This leads to an intensification of the fight for the championship.

Sogdiana remains in 9th place with 25 points. The team must score more points in subsequent rounds to move away from lower-level competition.
