U.S. President Donald Trump, during his Independence Day speech on July 4, announced that a UFC fight night will be held at the White House on July 4, 2026. The news sparked huge interest across the sports world, The Athletic reported.
Moments after the announcement, top UFC fighters from around the globe expressed their desire to take part in the event. Among them were Conor McGregor and retired legend Jon Jones. The Irishman has already resumed training for a one-time comeback.
McGregor, who had recently spoken about his political ambitions, seems to have shifted his focus back to the octagon. The Irish superstar stunned fans again by demanding $100 million to fight at Trump’s UFC event.
Fans reacted differently. Some called his demand excessive, while others said, “McGregor knows his worth.”
For comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo earns $250 million per year at Al-Nassr. Yet UFC paid all of its fighters a total of $203 million in 2024. That makes McGregor’s $100 million demand a shocking figure.
Reports indicate that the highest payout in UFC history was around $30 million — made possible through Saudi investors.
But McGregor’s demands didn’t stop there. He also reportedly requested 100 “golden visas” from Trump — each worth about $5 million and granting U.S. citizenship rights.
In total, the visas alone would be worth $500 million, and together with the fight fee, the total would exceed $600 million.
Sports journalists suggest McGregor aims not only to return to the UFC but to re-enter the global entertainment spotlight.
“Conor always finds a way to steal the show. This time, he’s trying to write his name into the record books again,” wrote an ESPN analyst.
Once again, the Irish fighter has proven that he can make headlines both inside and far beyond the octagon.
