A unique record was set in the world of tennis — American Arthur Lind and Australian Henry Young played a match as the oldest opponents in tennis history. The combined age of the players was 199 years. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) reported this on its social media pages.
102-year-old Young and 97-year-old Lind faced each other in the quarterfinal of the ITF World Championship among players aged 90 and over. The younger player, Lind, claimed victory with a score of 6–1, 6–2.
This match was remembered not only for the record-breaking age but also as a demonstration of strength and determination from both athletes. For both of them, tennis is not just a sport but a way of life.
For reference, Henry Young also made history in 2023 when he became the first 100-year-old tennis player to compete in an ITF tournament held in Mallorca.
Thus, the duel between Lind and Young will remain in tennis history not only for their age but also as a symbol of human spirit and love for the game.
