Former "Rostov" and "Zenit" defender Ivan Novoseltsev admitted that he did not understand why Russia national team's head coach Valery Karpin called up Arsen Zakharyan to the national team. The footballer recently recovered from an injury and is currently coming on as a substitute in some La Liga matches, but has not yet stood out with effective performances.
"Perhaps Valery Georgiyevich sees Arsen's untapped potential and future opportunities. Still, this is the national team, not Dynamo football club," Novoseltsev said in an interview with "Match TV".
Novoseltsev expressed a similar opinion about "Zenit" striker Aleksandr Sobolev. The Russia national team will play two friendly matches in November: against Peru in Saint Petersburg on November 12, and against Chile in Sochi on November 15.
