The English specialist proposed to revise the VAR system

Tony Pulis, known for his experience in English football, emphasized the need for serious changes to the VAR (video replay) system and game rules. In his opinion, in the current situation, referees and VAR have become the focus of more attention than football itself, which spoils the spirit of the sport.

Pulis emphasized that the VAR system is dragging out games and losing the natural tempo. "One of our problems is that VAR takes too much time to make decisions. We can assess the situation from the stands or on television in a matter of seconds, but the VAR team spends two to three minutes, sometimes even more. This will lose the rhythm in football," Pulis said.

According to his proposal, the VAR test should not last more than two minutes in any case. The expert believes that if the judges cannot reach a decision within this timeframe, this process is useless.

At the same time, the former coach said that in the VAR rooms there should be not only referees, but also former players or coaches who feel the football. "A professional footballer may not know every rule by heart, but they can sense the situation. This is an important aspect," Pulis said.

Another proposal is the introduction of a "clean game time" system. That is, the clock should be automatically stopped in cases of injury, VAR checks, or delays. "Then the fans will know exactly how many minutes are left, and there will be no need to guess how many minutes will be added at the end of the game," he said.

According to Pulis, he has faced numerous instances of unfair overtime in his experience in the English Premier League. "If we were ahead against a strong team, the referees would add five minutes. If we lost, we were given less than three minutes. This is a manifestation of injustice in football," he said.

According to the expert, football should be reviewed, and the VAR system should be limited to specific rules. "Football should be decided by the players, not the referees," Tony Poolis concluded.
