Egyptian national team head coach Hossam Hassan shared his thoughts after yesterday's defeat and openly spoke about what aspects the team struggled with and what conclusions they should draw. He emphasized that defeat is part of football, but the right steps taken afterward are also of great importance.
Hassan said the following about the game:
"We entered the field for victory, but this time luck wasn't on our side. Such situations happen in football. The most important thing is drawing conclusions. Uzbekistan is a strong team, it has its place in Asia. Playing against them is no easy task."
The coach said that the Egyptian team's squad was incomplete, and this also affected the result:
"In today's match, we couldn't use 10 of our key players. Almost the entire starting lineup didn't play. Against Uzbekistan, I tested new players like Marvan Usman, Mahmud Sobir, and Zalaka - so they could feel this pressure and adapt to the big game environment."
Hassan also expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance in the second half:
"My team played well in the second half. I emphasized that to win the Africa Cup of Nations, they need to show undoubtedly strong play against their opponents. In the first half, we conceded two goals due to individual errors and unclear defensive movements. But in the second half, we looked much better."
From Hassan's thoughts, it is clear that the Egyptian national team will seriously analyze this defeat and aim to prepare maximally for the Africa Cup of Nations by restoring the starting lineup. The third-place match against Cape Verde offers the team a chance to prove themselves.
