Shevchenko Stresses the Need for Serious Preparation Against Sweden


Andriy Shevchenko, the President of the Ukrainian Football Association and a former player for AC Milan and Chelsea, shared his thoughts on the results of the World Cup qualification play-off draw. In March, Ukraine will face Sweden, and the winner will compete against either Poland or Albania for a spot in the tournament's final stage.

"All the teams in the play-offs are strong. However, we have drawn one of the strongest opponents—Sweden.

Therefore, we need to prepare seriously. If we want to qualify for the tournament, we must improve our level," Shevchenko was quoted as saying by Football 24.

In the qualification group stage, Ukraine finished second behind France and secured a play-off spot after defeating Iceland 2-0 in the final round.
