A new break rule has been introduced at the 2026 World Cup

As 2026 approaches, heated discussions are in full swing around the biggest event in the football world - the World Cup, which the USA, Canada, and Mexico will host together. This World Cup is significant in several respects, as it is being held for the first time in history with conveniences and changes.

One of the biggest news is that according to FIFA's decision, the number of participating teams will increase from 32 to 48. This means that the opportunities for countries to express themselves will expand. Moreover, the fact that three countries are hosting the World Cup simultaneously will shift it to a completely new format.

Another important change introduced by FIFA is aimed at protecting the health of football players. The main organizer officially announced:

- At the 2026 World Cup, a three-minute hydration break is mandatory for players in each half.

This short break takes place in the 22nd minute of each half. The referee's whistle stops the game, allowing the players to drink water and regain their strength. The rule applies to all games, regardless of air temperature. Whether the stadium roof is closed or the field is cold or hot, a hydration break is mandatory in every match.

The main coordinator of the tournament, Manolo Zubiria, emphasized that these rules serve to maintain the players' stable physical condition. This system proved itself well at the Club World Cup in the USA in the summer of 2025 and will now be implemented at the World Cup.

The 2026 World Cup will start on June 11 and end on July 19. It should be noted that Uzbekistan qualified for the final stage of the World Cup for the first time in history and will participate in Group "K."

Our national team, led by Fabio Cannavaro, will initially play against Colombia and Portugal. The final opponent in the group will be determined after the playoff match between the Democratic Republic of Congo - Jamaica - New Caledonia.

As the preparations for the World Cup are intense, teams will need to quickly adapt to the new rules. It seems that in 2026 football will be remembered not only with a new format, but also with a new approach.
