
On December 8-9, an important date in our country—the Day of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan—was celebrated with another sports festival in Tashkent. The “Star Snooker” club hosted the first-ever Uzbekistan Senior Snooker Championship, conducted in a unique, competitive, and lively atmosphere.
In this tournament, experienced veteran snooker players were divided into two groups of four: Group A and Group B. On the first day, the leaders in both groups were determined, and the fight for playoff spots was intense.
- In Group A, Sardor Mirzajonov and Boxodir Abdurasulov demonstrated confident and active performances.
- In Group B, Shavkat Mahmudov and Hasan G‘ulomov secured good results and advanced to the semifinals.
The second day of the competition was full of excitement and intrigue. In the semifinals, Sardor Mirzajonov faced Hasan G‘ulomov, while Shavkat Mahmudov played against Boxodir Abdurasulov, showcasing aggressive gameplay. Both matches were highly tense and challenging.
As a result, Sardor Mirzajonov and Shavkat Mahmudov advanced to the final to compete for the championship. In a decisive match where determination, experience, and precise shots proved crucial, S. Mirzajonov triumphed with a 2-0 win, earning recognition as the historic champion of Uzbekistan's first senior snooker championship.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, the decision to organize such events regularly in the format of the International Snooker Seniors Championship was announced, marking another significant development for the sports community. This is expected to provide new momentum for the development of snooker in our country in the future.
